After the tasting of Luis Gutiérrez and the Wine Advocated ratings of February 28 of the D.O. Bierzo, we can proudly communicate the Parker Points awarded to our wines.
PAGO DE VALDONEJE MENCÍA 2017
This wine represents the essence of Mencía in the vineyards of Bierzo, more precisely the vineyards of Valtuille de Abajo. Pago de Valdoneje 2017 comes from a challenging year , marked by terrible spring frosts that decimated the crop, followed by an extremely hot and dry summer. Without wood, red color nude, fruity and juicy with spicy touches. It has a soft texture that makes it very appetizing. Production of 70,000 bottles. It was bottled in September 2018.
PAGO DE VALDONEJE VIÑAS VIEJAS 2016
Pago de Valdoneje Viñas Viejas 2016 seems to have benefited from a fresher, more Atlantic vintage than 2015. The floral notes are clearly in the foreground, and oak feels much better integrated. Of pleasant texture, fresh and with fine tannins. The Mencía variety does not have much acidity, and the wines only show freshness when they come from certain places and when the grapes are not picked too late. Production of 7,000 bottles. Bottled in December 2017.
PAGO DE VALDONEJE, EL VALAO 2016
I loved the second harvest of this Valtuille wine. El Valao 2016 feels fresher and with a better integrated oak than the initial 2015. Floral, expressive and open on the nose, with aromas that combine flowers, berries, spices and a touch of earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with abundant slightly dusty tannins. Final clean, dry and long. In May 2017, 2,600 bottles were bottled.
For fans of reds with wood. Production is limited to 600 bottles bottled in December 2016.
